You guyyyyys. All I wanna do is start making some spring recipes. With strawberries. And rhubarb. And fresh asparagus. And adorable little baby spring peas. Yes, I know, it’s only January. We’ve got at least another month (sadly, probably longer) to go before any of these dreams can possibly become a reality. But, I mean, don’t they just sound so drool-worthy?!?
The truth is, as much as I love the warm-cozy-sweet-comfort of fall and winter cooking, I’m just getting a little tired of it. I feel like I’ve made enough pumpkin and apple and lemony things over the past couple months to last me quite awhile (or at least until next October, when the cozy cooking craze will surely start up again!). Don’t get me started talking about the barren vegetable prospects of winter – I mean, do potatoes even really count as a vegetable? Luckily, if I’m going to have to stick it out with the slim winter produce pickings for another month, at least I’ve got these delicious scones to keep me company.
These chai spiced scones are so rich, so buttery, so flaky, and so flavorful! I took my favorite scone recipe (which happens to be crazy simple) and threw in tons of fragrant spices – cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and cardamom. Next, I whipped up a sweet glaze infused with real chai tea to drizzle all over the warm, soft scones. So, please let me know when the strawberries are back – until then, I’ll be bundled up at home enjoying a warm mug of tea and these scones!
