Who wants a warm, cheesy, melty, slightly spicy, buttery, and perfectly binge-able loaf of the most delicious bread? A loaf loaded with plenty of melted cheddar cheese and piquant, peppery, pickled jalapeños? A loaf that’s actually so simple to whip up and throw in the oven? Well, you’ve come to the right place!

Ok, I have to be honest with you guys… I’ve actually never, ever made anything with this type of jarred jalapeño before. And yet, I have this weird fascination with them. Maybe it’s because the taste – with the sharp combination of hot pepper and tangy vinegar – is kind of addicting. Or maybe it’s because I have a soft spot in my heart for Mexican-style nachos, with crunchy corn chips and plenty of spicy salsa and sour cream. Whatever it is, I’ll admit: I’m on a jalapeño kick lately.

And so I’m rolling with it. I decided to offset the hot, tangy, and spicy rounds with plenty of soft, creamy, melty cheese. Throw in some high-quality carbs – in the form of easy, peasy, premade pizza dough – and you’ve got yourself a meal (or a snack, if you’re not looking to indulge in the entire loaf). Call it an updated take on the classic nachos, if you’d like, but trust me – you’re gonna want to try this one!

  • I suggest serving this bread with either warm marinara sauce or ranch dressing.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup sliced pickled jalapeño peppers, drained

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°. Butter a loaf pan, then place a piece of parchment paper in the pan so that it covers the bottom and sides.
  2. Place the pizza dough on a floured board. Roll the dough out into a large rectangle about ten by twenty inches.
  3. Brush the melted butter over the dough. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese over dough, then top with the jalapeños, distributing evenly.
  4. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough lengthwise into three long strips. Cut each strip into six squares.
  5. Working four or six at a time, stack the squares, being careful not to lose too much of the cheese.
  6. Place the layers of squares vertically in the prepared pan.
  7. Bake bread until puffed and golden brown, about twenty five minutes.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
